What We Do

Market Assessment. We identify and analyze markets where renewable energy/electricity options and energy efficient technologies can be best utilized and how. For rural electrification projects, we conduct detailed demand and needs assessment surveys among targeted beneficiaries and work within the existing institutional framework to make sure that a proposed project will be socially acceptable, financially and technically feasible, and most importantly, sustainable.

Project Design. Using market and resource assessment information and our in-house technical, financial and management expertise, we provide clients with strategic advice and analysis to identify environmentally, financially, and technically feasible projects and proceeds to propose how these can best be developed and executed.

Conduct of Pre-feasibility/Detailed Feasibility Studies and Business Plan Development. Following the conduct of comprehensive market studies, detailed resource assessments, financial/economic and impact analyses, which serve as our bases for identifying the most financially and technically feasible energy/electricity options, we proceed to develop specific schemes/plans and institutional mechanisms on how these options can be pursued and implemented in a sustainable manner. For rural electrification projects, we integrate livelihood and community development activities in order to address socio-economic development aspects and ensure overall project sustainability.

Assistance in Procurement of Financing. We design appropriate and innovative financial structures and assist clients in leveraging out financing through our network of local and international sources of funding.

Assistance in Project Implementation and Management. To complement our work in project definition, technical feasibility assessment, and project design, we also assist proponents in the preparation of project plans as well as in the development and implementation of an appropriate Monitoring and Evaluation (M and E) framework. IRG-P also provides requisite training to capacitate project staff assisting in the implementation of the M and E framework.

Project Monitoring/Review. We undertake comprehensive analysis of ongoing / concluded projects, reviewing existing documentary information, ascertaining the views of stakeholders regarding the project design and implementation, and conducting our own field visits and interviews, with the purpose of improving on how such project is being implemented and/or identifying lessons for similar projects in the future. We provide technical assistance and capacity building in the development and implementation of Monitoring and Evaluation framework and assist proponents in the preparation and implementation of a comprehensive project plan to ensure that set objectives are met on time.

Training/Capacity-Building. We provide renewable energy, energy efficiency, and Clean Development Mechanism capacity building to both technical and non-technical audiences. Specific areas of expertise include training on the preparation of Project Design Document for CDM projects and the development of information transfer documentation (e.g. reference manuals discussing RE basics, for use by financial institutions in evaluating RE project proposals, or private companies undertaking RE project development) to support in-house capacity building.
